HPL Book Clubs
In addition to providing books for local, private book clubs, Hopewell Public Library hosts three in-library book groups that meet monthly.
First Monday of the Month Adult Book Club
This congenial group chooses eleven books per year from both contemporary and classic fiction and nonfiction of all types. In April, poetry month, members bring their favorite poems to share. Led by a volunteer, the group suggests, discusses, and votes to decide on the books for the upcoming year.
Meets on the first Monday of every month, from 7 to 8 pm, in the back reading area of the library. Advanced registration is not required. Books can be obtained through inter-library loan at the circulation desk.
Cookbook Book Club
The cookbook book club chooses a cookbook – classic, new, hot, or obscure – to pore over every two months. Each member cooks one dish from the book and brings it to the library so everyone can sit down together and discuss the book while eating a feast from the book’s recipes. Cooking has ranged from Julia Child to vegetarian to soul food and beyond.
Meets on the third Thursday of every other month, from 6:30 to 8 pm, in the back reading area of the library. Advanced registration is required. Books can be obtained through interlibrary loan at the circulation desk.
If you use Facebook, click for the Cookbook Book Club page. Or, call or email the library for more information.
Young Adult Book Club
Our book club for readers 10 and older meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month, from 5 to 6 pm.
